on topic
and i don't want that to change. but i do feel like i'm going to broaden things a little bit. because i miss blogging, but really it's hard to blog when all you have to say is um. . .i'm writing today, and the next day. . . still working on the same draft, type type typing away.
so it's my blog, and i'll blog when i want to about what i want to. (that's me being bold, determined, making my personal declaration-LOL, i'm such a dork sometimes.)
so what's to come? i have a few ideas, and since i've got the weekend coming up that'll give me time to implement a few changes. i'm very very excited about this (yes i know i said 'very' twice, it was intentional)

it's been a while
what have i been doing?
indulging in writers block (other wise known as being too lazy and too uninspired to write anything lately)
secondly i've started a second blog (not about writing, but about scrapbooking-my hobby of choice)
plus i've had some personal things going on that i won't bore you with.
all that being said. i think i'll probably be taking a little break. but i'll be back. one day soon i'm sure that writers bug will bite me again.
as always thanks for stopping by

my sister's keeper
i know that most of the authors & books i blog about are YA genre but i had to say something about the amazingly talented jodi picoult. she is one of my favorite authors. my sister's keeper is coming out this weekend. and i can't wait to see this movie. i have a feeling i'm going to need a big box of tissue.you can check out the trailer here.
most people i know who love books usually say the books are always better than the movies they're made into. which for me was certainly true of a recent novel turned movie: confessions of a shopaholic. i'm a huge fan of the novel series, but was a bit dissapointed in the movie. however i loved the notebook
by nicolas sparks (another one of my fav. authors), and i adore the move version. and the same person who did the notebook is doing my sister's keeper, so i have high hopes for this film.
since we're on the subject of novels turned film, just wondering a few things? do you think the movie will be as good as the book? do you prefer reading novels before you see the film or after? what's one of your fav novels that was turned into a movie?

24 and a day . . .
i haven't been blogging as much as i'd like to. or reading blogs as much as i like to.
why?
jury duty. (and no wifi in the courthouse) but i am almost finished with Private cause there's nothing else to do when you're stuck in the "jury holding pin" except read. so far i'm loving this book. i think i'll be picking up the next one. :)
as far as jury duty, what can i say other than-it should be over soon. (honestly though i do feel like i'm doing my civic duty and whatnot. plus let's face it some part of me has been wanting to be on a jury since i read my first John Grisham novel)
i'm doing this post really quick cause i'm at work (that's right on the weekend. it's ok though cause i only work a few weekends out of the whole year.)
have i been writing lately-no, not really.
but i feel like i'm always thinking about the novel, the characters, and what comes next.
i was looking over Mandy Hubbard's blog, speaking of which if you haven't checked out PRADA & PREJUDICE it's available now! there's so much work that goes into writing-revising, query-ing, being rejected, and finally being published.
doesn't sound easy at all, but worth it do be able to do what i love, and i love to write.

a few quick updates
- still writing (and i really thought i was close to being done, but as i stated in my last post i have a character who's just been fully developed, and it affects the dynamics of the whole novel. doesn't really change who she was too much, but i see her differently. she's sort of come to life. (i'm pretty sure that makes me kind of wierd but i don't care)
- still reading. done with the clique (and YES, would recommend it- its an easy read & total guilty pleasure), almost done with violet on the runway (Melissa Walker has a new fan!), and i started both Private & Secrets of my hollywood life (i haven't been disappointed with my book choices, which is always a plus-right!)
- i got a new follower (HI! and thank you) i'm a geek and i know it, but it makes me feel good every time i get a new follower.
- the next book i buy will be Prada & Prejudice, coming out June 11th two days before. . . (wait for it) . . .
- my BIRTHDAY!!! which is Saturday. I'll be the ripe old age of 24! WHOO HOO! (see how easily excited i am.)
as always thanks for reading, drop me a comment if you want, and have a good day :)

a character
i've been working on the development of one of the antagonist characters in my novel, and it really got me thinking about how much the people in our lives (parents, family, friends, even our enemies) shape and help make us the people we are. as teenagers specifically i find that despite all that much talked about 'peer pressure' parents hold major sway on who we are and become. our response to their involvement or lack of involvement in our lives can cause us to make decisions we wouldn't have made otherwise.
this particular character is responding to her mother's overbearing micromanaging personality, which she does from a distance, because she has a career that's constantly taking her away. i love how she dictates her 'mandatory requests'.
i'm excited, because she's the last of my main characters that needed to be developed. it's pretty interesting, i had a jist of who i wanted her to be, and what role i needed her to play in the novel. but once you give the character their background story, and dig into what motivates them, they come alive and you find their voice in the story. I can't wait for this weekend, i don't have plans so i should be able to get a lot of writing done.
